Finance Ministry investigators charge 4 for attempted fraudulent appropriation of property

The Investigation Service of Georgia’s Finance Ministry on Wednesday said it had arrested two out of four individuals charged for attempted misappropriation of property from a foreign citizen using forged documents.
 

The Service said its investigation had found the offenders had tried to sell two plots of land worth ₾624,472 ($235,226) and registered under the name of a foreign citizen by submitting a forged document that appeared to authorise the transaction in Tbilisi. 
 

The forged authorisation appeared to grant the authorisation from Azerbaijan and was submitted to the Public Service Hall in the Georgian capital. 
 

The crime is punishable by six to nine years in prison.
